THE
NORTHCOTE MESSENGER, JANUARY 1928 WEST PRESTON Saturdays, December 3rd and 10th, were days of bustling activity at West Preston. The erection of the new church at the corner of Cramer street and Gilbert road was carried out on those days. About 70 men were engaged, and as a result of their combined labor the church was opened about 8.30 p.m. on Saturday, December 10th. The building was opened by Mr. A. Lewis, president of the North-Eastern Baptist Association, and a splendid gathering of Baptists and local residents was in attendance. The building was packed, many being unable to gain admittance. The offering towards the building fund resulted in 57 pound. The Nothcote church is always jealous of its reputation, and we were delighted at the assistance rendered by our people. The ladies of out church provided dinner for over 40 men on the first day, and provided splendidly. The men of our church were also well represented on the building. To all who in any way assisted the work at West Preston the officers of this church extend their thanks.
