Following is a brief history of the church, highlighting some of the significant events during each decade and the Minister/Pastors.

1920's

  • Church started meeting in shop at corner of Bell street and Gilbert Road, West Preston.
  • First recorded church business meeting, corner of Bell and Gilbert - 6th July 1927.
  • Land was purchased to build a church, Corner of Gilbert Road and Cramer street, West Preston.
  • Church was build on land - Dec. 3 & 10, 1927.
  • Church was opened - Dec. 10, 1927
  • Church was constituted - 22 Jan. 1928 by Rev H.H. Jeffs
  • Founding members = 15
  • Each August church had the 'Sale of Gifts' day called the "Wattle Fair" as a fund raiser to pay off the loan for the church

  • 22-Nov-1972 Members = 34
  • 1975 both the long serving Secretary and Treasurer passed away on the one weekend

  • Church ministry to Cambodian refugees - early 1980's
  • Featonby and Fuller estates donation to church ($130000+$18000) - 1983-84
  • Church interior renovations, Sanctuary and middle rooms - 1983-84
  • Church buys 108 Cramer Street, West Preston for $78, 500 - 15-Dec-1984 and rented to Cambodian families
  • Manse also rented out the Cambodian families - 1985
  • Church sells 108 Cramer Street for $86,000 - Sep 1987
  • Extensions to rear of manse $49000 - Oct-Nov 1988
  • Starting of Community based youth group - Late 1980's
